Principal’s Corner
Dear Bishop’s Peak/Teach Families,
I am writing my last newsletter of the year with some uncertainty regarding budget items for the 2009-2010 school year. The funding sources for San Luis Coastal Unified School District have buffered us from the same cuts our surrounding districts have had to make. As our state cuts continue to hit education funds across the state, there is great uncertainty regarding how these cuts will affect our district. Dr. Valentine, Superintendent, will soon be sending home a letter regarding our district’s budget status. Throughout the summer, updates will be posted on our district’s website.
At Bishop’s Peak/Teach, and all SLCUSD schools, we will continue our late start starting time on Mondays (9:25 a.m. on Mondays and 8:25 a.m. Tuesday-Friday). Our staff is thankful for this opportunity, and we thank you for your support this past year. Sun ‘n Fun will continue to offer free childcare on Monday mornings. If you need before or after school child care in general, you can sign up for the late-start hour at the same time at the City of San Luis Obispo, Parks and Recreation Department. For more information on their Sun ‘n Fun and STAR programs on campus, call 781-7300. If you only need childcare during the late-start Monday period (8:15-9:15 Mondays), a registration sheet will be available in the school office in August.
Last Wednesday the staff at BP/TE honored our classroom volunteers. We are fortunate to have such overwhelming support from our parent community. I want to thank all of our volunteers, and on behalf of all of the teachers we extend a special thanks to anyone we may have overlooked.
I hope all of our families enjoy a safe and happy summer!
Dan Block, Principal
